Design Informer

I’m always observing graphic design in different things. The other day, while I was watching something on TV, the design of the title screen caught my attention. I figured that this would be a great idea to post on Design Informer. I quickly got to work and started researching. Come to find out that there were some great sites that have already collected hundreds of movie title stills.

The past couple of weeks, the media has been in a frenzy. When news that Conan O’Brien was getting the boot from NBC, there suddenly was an uproar. Everyone was defending Conan, including designers. Last week, my Twitter stream was filled with "Save Coco" or "We Love Conan." Personally, I never really watched him and I don’t really feel sorry for him (he’s making millions from this), but because of all the hoopla surrounding this debacle, I decided to look around and see what designers have done. Usually, if there’s something big in the news, you can be sure that designers have already fired up Photoshop or have taken their pens and papers and have already started designing and creating something dealing with the issue.

On January 13, 2010, the world was shocked to hear the news about the devastation that took place in Haiti. An earthquake with the magnitude of 7.0 hit the country hard. A few days later, we were informed of the hundreds of thousands of people that were killed due to this horrific event. When the people around the world heard of this tragedy, lots of them immediately took action. Millions of dollars have been raised thus far to help out the Haitians.

The other day, while I was sorting out and organizing my bookmarks, I ran across this site called Letterhead Fonts. I had completely forgotten about this site and the moment I saw it, I knew I had to feature them here on Design Informer. If you like typography, then this showcase is definitely for you.

We all know how popular WordPress is. Hundreds of blogs that we visit daily use WordPress to publish their content. Over the past year, there have been a few different services that have popped up that allows you to post content online a lot faster than WordPress would. Two of the most popular ones are Tumblr and Posterous.

While posting content through these services is incredibly easy, the hard part is choosing which one to use. They both have their pros and cons. I actually asked around Twitter for people’s opinion on which they liked best: Tumblr or Posterous?
